That's my first ever witnessing an "O My Buns" delivery truck.

Can you imagine pitching your business plan to some venture capitalists who want to invest in your start-up company?

"Yes, I'd like to start a cutting edge pastry company... I'm gonna call it... O My Buns!!l"

This is one of the formal shots from the dance party. This guy was so glad to be there & to hv the pic.

At the Medeivel Dance Party for disabled kids there were characters (king, queen, prince and princess) that took pictures with kids and groups of people. This young guy was so proud of his picture it was cool to see.

Beautiful Day's Adopt-a-Hero Story

I just got this email from some who just did Beautiful Day's Adopt-a-Hero. It was a great experience for her and I thought I'd share it with you.

If you have a Beautiful Day story... send it in!!

Jon,

I just did my first Beautiful Day project and I wanted to tell someone about it. I signed up for Adopt-a-Hero, and was assigned to bake some goodies for the San Jose Police Department. I was told that I could deliver the dessert at any point during the week, and since I’m working from home nowadays and don’t have much time to bake during the week, I baked homemade chocolate chip cookies (from scratch) last night, warmed them up this afternoon, and delivered them to the SJPD just a few minutes ago.

Isn’t it amazing how God works? I put on my Beautiful Day shirt and drove to the SJPD (I had just warmed up the cookies, so you could smell the melted chocolate chips wafting in the air). I wasn’t sure where to go, but I saw a uniformed police officer standing by a door and told him, “Excuse me, I have some cookies to drop off for the Police Department.” I kid you not – the expression on the man’s face completely changed from one of stoic professionalism to complete disbelief. He asked me, “Seriously? How nice of you! Why?” I answered, “Well, I’m with an organization called Beautiful Day, a consortium of churches that is focusing on doing outreach to our community this week. I’m on a project that reaches out to law enforcement, firemen, and the like by delivering them dessert.” The man still looked shocked, but in a good way. J He asked me again, “What is the name of the organization you’re with?” And again, I said, “Beautiful Day,” and explained about the program and the whole compassionate outreach thing.

You could tell that the man was touched. He just couldn’t seem to believe that a complete stranger would do something so kind.

The great thing about it all is that there were lots of other people in the room, so they heard the exchange between me and the officer as well. I never got his name – and he never asked mine – but that’s not really the point, is it?
I like this “compassion unleashed” thing.

There were some rough peeps that came down my block today. By chance I got this picture of them.

Don't be fooled by the innocence of Peeps... they come from a sketchy part of town.

You've been warned!!

Cutting edge church marketing. I'm going to see if we can use these methods at WestGate church

You can't see what they were spelling, but it reads... "You are invited to give generously"

I appreciate them "inviting" us... That's sweet of them.

This sign reflects racism towards Asians and their body parts. Very sad

At least spell "knees" correctly.

It's Jap knees

I don't get how that could ever be a cuisine either.

This is the part of my job that I hate. Saying goodbye to players when they are traded. We will miss Pablo Campos

This is a pick of some of my boys from the EarthQuakes… Pablo Campos, Mike Graczyk, Arturo Alverez, and Shea Salinas.  The other pic is of me, Davide Somma (who was released earlier this year) Pablo, and Shea at a bowling tournament for FCA.   I met Pablo at Chipotle in San Jose just after he joined the team and invited him over for our Wednesday family game night.  He came and introduced us to some of the best games we’ve played in our home.  Granted… these are drinking games, but we played them all night (without the drinking) and had an awesome time.  Pablo is one of the warmest guys you will ever meet and loved being at the house and hanging out with my family.

We will miss him,

I'm back from El Pollo Loco and the family is gathered. Its time for a sing a long. I envision something like this...

I've done some research and have discovered some new parenting techniques.

When communicating with your children, use a high pitched whistle.  This whistle counters whining, screaming, talking back, and eye-rolling.   If we’ve learned anything from Captain Von Trapp, the whistle is our best option to get kids attention… short of smacking them upside the head (which is what I’m sure he wanted to do with his boys who wore the Lederhosen).

Parenting Lesson #1

-Get a Whistle

Parenting Lesson #1a

-smack kids who wear Leaderhosen

a spaceship hovered over our house this morning... and this creature fell out and landed on my lawn. It's still there.

It looks scary, and it snorted at me when I got close to it, so I ran away.  But I got this picture and am now convinced that aliens do exist and we are not alone in the stratosphere.

Spent most the day immersed in The essential Enneagram. I'm a 7, The Epicure. What are you?

This is the most comprehensive personality test I've ever taken. It's empowering to discover who you are... and how best to patner with your gift mix to be what God has created you to be. If you have not taken this test... It's well worth the time.

US vs Brazil Confederation Cup finals today. Keeper Tim Howard is a Rockstar.

I love this guy.  Humble upbringing, Played in the MLS, brought over to Man U, now the anchor of the US Dream team.  No one would have guessed we’d have gone this far, and Tim Howard is a huge part of it.

Today against Brazil should be interesting.
